Why I Avoid Tollywood Action Films and Balakrishna's Movies in Particular
Tollywood, widely recognized for its action-packed flicks, has its share of beloved classics. However, as a fan of more subtle narratives, I often find myself tuned out during Tollywood action films. Movies like KGF and RRR, while successful, are not my preference. I find myself rooting for my favorite scenes and skipping the rest.
Nandamuri Balakrishna and His Films
There are numerous Tollywood stars who deliver underwhelming performances, but when it comes to Nandamuri Balakrishna, the films he stars in are often the worst. Whether it is the story, screenplay, dialogues, or the songs, everything about his movies is subpar, making them a constant letdown for me.
Unfavorable Comparisons
Comparing his films with those of other renowned actors in Tollywood, such as Rana Daggubatti, I find Bhookathmangaludu (also known as Bharath Ane Nenu) to be significantly less appealing. While it remains a popular film, Rana Daggubatti's portrayal in Leader is often perceived as superior. I consider Bhookathmangaludu overrated and generally less appreciated by myself.
Afew Notable Dislikes
Legend (2021)One movie that tops my list of dislikes is Legend, known for its worst screenplay and stupid action sequences. Despite all the hype and anticipation, the film fails to deliver a compelling story or action sequences that would satisfy fans of the genre.
Raccha (2016)Raccha is another film that can be summed up as a copy of a well-loved plot, executed in a manner that is outrageously irritating. The movie, which grossed over 40 crore INR, managed to break records at the box office but failed to gain widespread critical acclaim.
Sree Rama Rajyam (2019)In Sree Rama Rajyam, Balakrishna is found utterly unfit to take on the role of Lord Rama. While his father excelled in the same role, Balakrishna struggles to capture the essence of such a revered character, leading to a disappointing performance.
F2: Fun Frustration (2021)The movie F2: Fun Frustration, known for its promising first half, takes a nosedive in the second half. The director's gamble pays off in the initial stages, only to turn the second half into aLetdown. The audience is left feeling disappointed, as the director's failure to maintain the quality of the first half results in a subpar experience.
While there are many Tollywood and Nandamuri Balakrishna films I dislike, the above-mentioned movies are just a small selection of my dislikes. The variety of scripts, acting, and direction in Balakrishna's films ensure that they are not enjoyable for me, let alone my other film fan friends.
There's no denying that Tollywood has produced some incredible films, but when it comes to action films and the performances of Nandamuri Balakrishna, it's a challenge for me to get through them.
For now, I remain firm in my stance, eagerly awaiting any edits or observations that can change my mind. Let the discussions begin!
