Why I Say Goodbye to Netflix and Embrace Other Streaming Services
Many of us have made the switch from Netflix to other streaming services due to various reasons. I, too, have made this decision, and I'm here to share my journey and the reasons behind it.
Why I Stopped Subscribing to Netflix
While I haven't completely stopped using Netflix, my subscription is much more limited. It's primarily used for streaming older movies that I grew up with, along with other streaming platforms. This change in my viewing habits has been a necessity rather than a choice, given the increasing costs and limitations of the service.
Netflix has added more anime, which is great, but we already have dedicated anime streaming platforms. These services offer a more focused selection that aligns better with my preferences. Consequently, I decided to stick with these dedicated services for my anime needs.
The Rich Getting Richer: My Take on Corporate Greed
My decision to leave Netflix isn't just about the cost. It's also a reflection of my disdain for corporate greed and the relentless pursuit of profit. The rich getting richer is a mantra that seems to define many corporate entities, especially those like Netflix that have a significant control over the streaming market. To me, it's disgusting that companies continue to increase their profits at the expense of their consumers.
Their constant push for more and more, including the latest Netflix CEO's plan to add over 100 billion more streams by 2031, is not only disrespectful but also financially unsustainable for many of us. It's no surprise then when these clowns (as I affectionately call them) consider filing for Chapter 11, which is a bankruptcy process. Here's to hoping they'll face the consequences of their actions.
Cost Analysis and My Reason for Leaving
Cost analysis plays a crucial role in making any subscription decision. A couple of years ago, Netflix was a smooth 8 per month. Then, the price increased to 10. While I could manage this, the ongoing cancellations of hit shows and the falling stock prices of Marvel (a subsidiary of the same parent company) added to my frustration.
Fast forward to a few months ago, I published an Instagram post expressing my dissatisfaction. The first email from Netflix was a standard nudge to renew my subscription. The second email was a belated response to my post, mentioning the increased costs and their ongoing efforts to offer a better service. How dare they!
The recurring dilemma presented by Netflix is a stark reminder that the market is controlled by a few major players, and it is increasingly difficult for smaller or niche services to compete. My decision to leave Netflix and explore other alternatives is a reflection of my desire to support services that prioritize both quality and affordability.
Exploring Other Streaming Services
Fairly recently, I discovered some excellent alternatives to Netflix. These services offer a wealth of content, at a more reasonable price point. For anime fans like me, services such as Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Animax provide a much more engaging and cost-effective experience.
In conclusion, while the decision to leave a platform as popular as Netflix isn't easy, the reasons are often deeply rooted in dissatisfaction with corporate practices, cost, and quality of service. Hopefully, this article will inspire others to carefully consider their streaming choices and support services that prioritize the needs of their subscribers.
