Where Has Bo-Katan Been Since the Clone Wars?

At the conclusion of the Clone Wars, Bo-Katan and a loyal contingent of Mandalorians staged a successful rebellion against Darth Maul and his elite Mandalorian Supercommandos. These Supercommandos, who had held sway over Mandalore for most of the war, were overthrown by Bo-Katan, who then emerged as the regent of Mandalore, just as the Empire under Order 66 was ushered in.

Mandalore's Fall and Rise

With Mandalore swiftly falling under Imperial control, Bo-Katan resisted. Her refusal to comply with the Emperor's orders led to her overthrow and the rise of Clan Saxon, led initially by Gar Saxon and then by his brother, Tiber Saxon. Bo-Katan became a prominent figure in the Mandalorian Resistance, a loosely organized coalition of Mandalorian clans united against Imperial rule.

Over time, the Resistance, with the support of the Rebel Alliance, notably Spectres (the main characters from Star Wars Rebels), managed to overthrow both Clan Saxon and the Imperial Supercommandos, the equivalent of Maul's commandos. Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian affiliated with the Spectres, presented Bo-Katan with the Darksaber, a revered black lightsaber that symbolized leadership among the Mandalorians. This act officially made Bo-Katan the new Mand'alor, or paramount leader, of the Mandalorian people.

Bo-Katan's Great Purge and Exile

Details about Bo-Katan's whereabouts between her rise to power and the Battle of Endor are few and far between. At some point, the Emperor, seemingly tired of Bo-Katan’s defiance, launched the infamous "Great Purge" against her. All that is known of this purge comes through the lens of The Mandalorian. Mandalore was left in ruins, the Mandalorians were brutally slaughtered, and the survivors went into hiding. The Darksaber, likely stolen by the Emperor, was in the possession of Moff Gideon by the time of the story.

Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian shows Bo-Katan attempting to reclaim not only the Darksaber but also her position as Mand'alor, setting the stage for new adventures in the Star Wars universe.

Conclusion

Bo-Katan's journey from a powerful regent to a figure in exile and back to her rightful place as the leader of the Mandalorian people is a complex and intriguing narrative. As the Star Wars saga continues, her story remains a focal point of interest for fans of the universe.
