Unbelievable 2019 Series: A Review That Will Make You Crave for More

When I first heard the online reviews for Unbelievable, I was curious to see why it had gained such a following. However, my experience was far from what the positive feedback suggested. Let's explore both viewpoints and weigh the pros and cons of this series.

A Tumult of Opinions

Watched the show based on the amazing reviews it had online, but oh god, what an annoying show! It moves so slowly, delving more into the personal lives of the detectives than the victims. The show starts with Marie getting raped, but then completely shifts away from her story, greatly over dramatizing her life. Her lack of support and her patience in dealing with negativity make the viewing experience frustrating.

It’s evident that the series could have been shot and completed in just three episodes. There was no need for us to see detectives jogging through the woods, seeing their dogs feed on a dead calf, dealing with their children, or even singing while driving cars. These scenes seemed irrelevant to the seriousness of the ongoing investigation.

If you're looking to waste a few hours, this might be the one. However, for a more engaging crime series, I would strongly advise reading a summary and skipping directly to the conclusion.

A Comprehensive and Thrilling Series

On the flip side, there's a whole different discussion to be had for those who have been recommending Unbelievable. This crime series has been one of the top recommendations, and for good reason. The show is gripping, well-shot, and possesses strong performances. The series draws inspiration from reality with minimal distortion of facts, sensitively portraying the victims’ situations and emotions. It is one of Netflix’s biggest achievements, as far as I’m concerned, earning a rating of 9.5/10.

Beyond the gripping plot, the series also focuses on the imperfections that all of us as human beings have. For instance, the imperfections and lack of sensitivity on the part of the detective lead to a significant mess up in the initial investigation. This subplot adds depth and realism to the story. The portrayal of the victim’s journey is also extremely sensitive, resonating well with the viewers. The level of detailing in the crime investigation is meticulous, keeping the audience hooked till the end.

The character sketches of almost all characters are immense in depth and breadth, showcasing the complexities of human nature. The series delves into how our experiences shape us, and it also highlights the attention that mental health needs. It explores the mindset of people and the need for sensitivity towards victims, making it all the more compelling.

Summing up, Unbelievable is a fabulously engaging and mindful crime thriller. If you are on the lookout for a crime series that delves into the intricacies of human nature and the justice system, this is the show for you. I strongly recommend it.
