True Crime Television Shows: Fascination, Frustration, and Film
Do You Watch True Crime Television Shows Regularly?
There are several categories of shows where people are being watched every day, and especially during this pandemic crisis, people are struggling to venture outside their homes. Streaming platforms have become the primary source of entertainment, and among these, true crime shows stand out. If you are looking for true crime shows for streaming, there are a plethora of options available across various platforms.
True Crime Shows on Streaming Platforms
Without a second thought, you can easily stream the shows you're interested in by completing the subscription charges. Additionally, there are several free streaming sites available, so you can choose based on your preference and convenience. True crime enthusiasts like myself consume both books and TV shows regularly. What captivates me most is the “WHY” factor; I'm intrigued by how people can commit heinous acts against others.
Favorite True Crime Shows
One of my favorite true crime shows is called “See no Evil.” It is an intriguing series that delves into real-life cases, showcasing how they were solved through surveillance footage, reenactments, and interviews. Originally aired on the Investigation Discovery channel, it is now available on Amazon Prime Video, making it easy to watch.
I was initially hesitant to watch “See no Evil,” but I'm so glad I gave it a chance because it is an excellent show. It provides a blend of real-life storytelling with engaging narratives, making it a compelling watch.
Personal Impressions on True Crime Television Shows
Some years ago, during my travels across the West Coast of America, I frequently watched endless true crime shows on television. While the story details were often accurate, the production values were shockingly poor. The scripts were lazy, the direction was inept, the acting was tired, and the characters were unconvincing. It seemed as if a group of filmmakers with questionable ethics decided to make movies away from the mainstream. The shows lacked finesse, energy, and quality.
Lately, I have seen a few true crime shows on Amazon Prime, but the crime scenes haven't improved. The stories remain listless, contaminated, and superficial, with low budgets, C-list talent, unimaginative real-life killers, cardboard victims, and stereotyped cops. While there are many top-quality fictional crime films from Europe, true crime shows seem to fall short.
Personally, I believe true crime films should be euthanized and buried. This might help deter real-life killers from committing copycat crimes, and if caught, their roles could be assigned to those suitable for the job. The misplaced egos of these filmmakers are baffling.
Meanwhile, as viewers, we prepare ourselves for yet another rendition of classic stories, such as The Lion King and A Star Is Born, with Idris Elba playing a Snow White character. These are true crime stories all over again.
