Top K-Dramas of 2023: A Review

Delve into the world of K-dramas and explore the latest hits that burst onto the global stage in July 2023. Here are our top recommendations, not just for this year, but those that will remain a part of K-drama history.

Death's Game

“Choi Yee-Jae grew up in a poor family background but he had a bright, kind personality. After years of failing to find a decent job he is now full of desperation, despair. He decides to end his life, Choi Yee-Jae thought everything would be over after taking his own life but after his death he faces the being Death who is standing in front of the gate to Hell. He is given the punishment to experience death 12 more times through different bodies. If he wants to avoid going to Hell he must survive..”

Death's Game is a phenomenal K-drama that combines suspense, action, supernatural elements, and drama. The fast-paced plot will keep you on the edge of your seat, making you cry, get angry, and completely enthralled. This drama is so captivating that I didn't stop watching it until one day when I finished it. However, Viewer Discretion is Advised as it contains scenes of blood, violence, suicide, and depression.

A Side Note or More of a Warning

The drama contains scenes that has blood, violence, suicide, depression and may be some gore so Viewer Discretion is advised.

Twinkling Watermelon

“Twinkling Watermelon tells the story of a high schooler who has hearing-impaired parents But has a gift for music one day he travels back in time to 1995. He joins a band with his childhood father and forms a band called Watermelon Sugar with the suspicious youths he meets there and communicates with them through music.”

Twinkling Watermelon is a heartwarming K-drama with romance, comedy, and drama. It is a series that affected me positively, making me emotional, laugh, and cry. The beautiful story and characters made it a moving experience, and I loved it immensely.

Daily Dose of Sunshine

A kind-hearted nurse working in psychiatry goes above and beyond to be a daily dose of sunshine for those under her care despite the challenges coming her way.

Daily Dose of Sunshine is another heartwarming K-drama that provides valuable life lessons and messages. It combines comedy and drama, making it an emotional journey. The story is touching and truly represents the power of kindness and empathy.

Call It Love

“Woojoo decides to take revenge for all the injustices she has suffered when her family unexpectedly becomes homeless. But her plans change when her supposed enemy Dongjin turns out to be a thoroughly lovable lonely and gentle soul.”

Call It Love might not be for everyone due to its slow-paced nature, but in my opinion, it is a slow burn romantic melodrama that perfectly matches its storyline. The plot, the main characters, and their communication skills without words made it a beautiful and touching story.

Vigilante

“Kim Ji Yong a student at the police academy lost his mother at the hands of a local gangster when he was young he becomes a vigilante and kills criminals.”

Vigilante is a suspenseful and well-paced K-drama that features action and drama. Most of the cases depicted in the series are based on true events. I was hooked from the first episode, and I was emotionally invested, finishing it in a day. It is an interesting and enjoyable watch for those who appreciate suspenseful narratives.

Celebrity

If someone gains fame, popularity on social media they can also make a lot of money Seo A-ri achieves social media stardom overnight but deadly consequences await in this glitzy glamorous world of influencers.

Celebrity is a unique K-drama that presents the story through two timelines, the present and the past, without confusing the audience. The plot is fascinating and relevant, with elements of mystery, suspense, and romance. Although it has some plot holes, it is a binge-worthy series that I enjoyed immensely.

Conclusion

These K-dramasare truly binge-worthy, and they are both interesting and enjoyable. While everyone has different tastes, I found them to be amazing and thoroughly enjoyable. If you decide to watch any of them, I hope you share my enjoyment of these captivating K-dramas.

Happy Watching!
