Top 10 Fictional Characters I Despise: A Curated List
Hate is a strong emotion, but for many, there's a list of characters who evoke that feeling to the core. Whether they are morally reprehensible or simply annoying, these characters stand out. Here are my top 10, based on personal disdain, ranging from fictional villains to company employees.
1. Champ - Akame ga Kill
Champ is a pedophile and serial rapist/killer. There's literally nothing positive to say about him. He preys on vulnerable individuals, making him one of the most despicable characters in any fictional universe. If you have to despise someone to the core, Champ does it with grace.
2. Syura - Akame ga Kill
Syura, just like Champ, is a character who takes advantage of vulnerable women. While he might have found women of legal age, his actions are still deplorable. The fact that he abuses his position and the pain he caused to Bols' family is more than enough for him to land at the top of this list. Despicable indeed.
3. Grace Rutrow - Glitch Tale
Grace Rutrow is ruthless and calculating. Her actions are inexcusable, as she blames others for shared grief and even wishes them dead. She represents an antagonist who goes too far, and her decisions are not only cruel but ruinous for those around her.
4. Danzo - Naruto
Danzo may be a well-known villain, but there's a reason I place him at this position. While others might hate him for his evil actions, my issue lies with how the story tries to make him sympathetic. He's a morally grey character who justifies his evil deeds under the guise of the greater good. His decisions, such as killing Kabuto and Nono, added more chaos to the plot rather than solving any problems.
5. Urashiki Otosuuki - Boruto
Urashiki, as an Otsutsuki clan member, should be a formidable threat, but his actual appearance in Boruto shows him as a weakling. If he could not take on a kid like Naruto or even an older Jiraiya, there's no reason for him to be a significant villain. His incompetence and cowardice make him an easy target for disdain.
6. Muzan Kibutsuji - Demon Slayer
Muzan is the progenitor of the demon race, but he's also a terrible villain. He's a combination of an incompetent boss and an arrogant Karen. His ego, narcissism, cowardice, and the fact that he's not as smart as he pretends makes him a despisable figure in the Demon Slayer universe.
7. Koyuki Kazahana - Naruto
Koyuki, a character from the Naruto movie Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, was not endearing at all. Her participation in the movie was over-the-top and annoying, making her a stand-out in my list of despised characters.
8. Velma - The Venture Bros.
The Velma character is a true representation of an obnoxious and self-centered person. Her constant interference and ridiculous behavior make her one of the most annoying and unlikable characters in any animated series. She would make for a perfect villain, but her eagerness to be involved in everything makes her more of a nuisance.
9. Shou Tucker - Fullmetal Alchemist
Shou Tucker is an abusive father who has caused irreparable damage to his daughter. Not only that, but his insatiable thirst for wealth and power has led him to morally and ethically questionable behaviors. The character is just plain despicable and deserving of contempt.
10. Amber - Invincible
Amber is a self-centered and possibly manipulative character. Her behavior shows she is not only inconsiderate but also disrespectful. When you're dating a superhero, it should be understood that they might need to be absent for important reasons. However, Amber's actions demonstrate a lack of maturity and respect.
Each of these characters represents a different kind of moral failing or unacceptable behavior. From pedophilia and serial killer tendencies to incompetence and ego, they all reflect the worst elements of human nature. Some may argue that this list is subjective, but these characters certainly fit the bill of despising to the core.
