Theoretical Scenario: Bruce Banner and the Spider's Bites

Imagine a universe where Bruce Banner undergoes a bizarre transformation. If he was bitten by the same mutated spider that turned Peter Parker into Spider-Man, what would happen?

Nothing Happens: A Biological Quirk

Interestingly, the bite wouldn't have any effect. There are two reasons for this:

Bruce Banner's Immune System: Due to the Hulk's robust immune system, any mutation passed by the spider bite would alter Banner's DNA. However, his regeneration would negate these changes, leaving him unchanged. Radiation Absorption: The spider was radioactive, and the Hulk's body can absorb radiation. Therefore, the bite is essentially neutralized.

A Different Universe: A Tragic Path

However, there is one universe where this scenario unfolds differently. On Earth-70105, Benjamin Parker, Uncle Ben, passes away in World War II. Without the guidance of his uncle, Peter Parker navigates the tumultuous teenage years with a troubled past, leading him to trouble.

Similar to the mainstream universe, in this alternate timeline, Bruce Banner isn't the one to save Rick Jones, who instead is bombarded by the gamma bomb. This leads to Rick transforming into the Hulk. However, in this universe, Ben Parker himself becomes the victim of the gamma bomb.

His Aunt May, sensing his transformation, suffers a heart attack, and Peter flees. Eventually, he gets into a confrontation with Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, and ends up killing him. Tragically, Peter meets his demise at the hands of Galactus. This scenario is hypothetical and serves as a foundation for the following sequence of events.

From Experiments to Transformation

Driven by guilt, Bruce Banner, the inventor of the gamma bomb, devotes his life to finding a cure for Peter Parker's condition. In his relentless pursuit, he even dissects a spider exposed to the same radiation, seeking answers. Tired and stressed from his research on the Hulk, Banner finally lets his guard down, leading to a spider biting him. This spider bite transforms Banner into Spider-Man, much like Peter Parker's transformation.

Like the Hulk, Banner's body reacts harshly to the bite, causing him to go into an uncontrollable state. He is subsequently captured by SHIELD and spends some time in their custody. However, he eventually recovers and serves SHIELD as the Amazing Spider-Man.

The Spider-Verse: A Twist Ending

The next time we see this version of Spider-Man is during the Spider-Verse event in the comics. However, in this universe, his journey is cut short, as he is quickly killed and devoured by the inheritor, Daemos.

The question many fans ask is, ‘Wouldn’t it be a tragedy if the spider bite didn’t affect Banner, sparing him the transformation or woes of being the Hulk, leaving him unaffected in both conditions?

This scenario, while speculative, offers a glimpse into the complex interplay of genetics, radiation, and personality in the Marvel universe, enriching our understanding of how these characters were formed.
