The Plot Line for an Old Republic Movie/TV Series: Crafting the Perfect Sequel

As a devoted fan of the Star Wars universe, the idea of an Old Republic movie or TV series is incredibly enticing. Despite my love for KOTOR 1 and the attempt to make KOTOR 2 canon, KOTOR 2 failed to live up to the promise and excitement of the original. However, if Disney ever decides to bring KOTOR to the big screen, it would certainly create a whirlwind of excitement and conversation within the fan community.

Fixing the Continuity and Making The Old Republic Feel Ancient

Adapting an Old Republic movie or TV series would require a significant overhaul of the plot line and story. The first two games were fantastic, but the subsequent sequels failed to capture the essence and grandeur of the original series. Therefore, to make this franchise truly canonical, several adjustments need to be made.Revise the Continuity: Major changes in the storylines and history must be implemented to better fit into the current Star Wars continuity. Ensure a Feels-Older Tone: The series must feel ancient and epic, which it didn't during the playthrough. This means reworking the time line of key events, such as the Mandalorian Wars, Exar Kun Wars, Exiling the Jedi, Revan’s disappearance, and the forces of Darth Traya, Darth Bane, and Darth Nihilus. Adjust the Timeline: Some of the events that transpired in these ten years need to be placed much further in the past to align with the ancient history of the Star Wars universe.

The Plot Line: Revan's Quest for Redemption

If Disney decides to bring The Old Republic to the big screen, the plot line should revolve around the Exile and Revan embarking on a journey to find and bring back the prodigal Jedi knight Revan. This could serve as an appropriate and fitting sequel to Revan's story in the first game. The Exile, on a mission to seek answers and wisdom, explores the unknown regions of the galaxy, where they encounter the ancient Sith artifacts and the remnants of the Star Forge.

During this journey, the Exile encounters Nihilus, who starts to corrupt Meade through the use of his sentient dark side mask. This mask is a parasitic ancient artifact that feeds off the dark side. As the plot unfolds, the Exile struggles with the moral and ethical dilemmas of corrupted beings, leading to a pivotal moment of betrayal and tragedy. The crew gets stranded on an unknown planet, where Revan, as a leader of an ancient species, seeks answers about his true self, while the last remaining Sith followers and Star Forge creations align against the Republic.

The Final Showdown and Beyond

The climax of the series should be an epic, intense, and spectacular battle between the former ally, the Exile, and the newly returned Revan, who is now seeking to prevent the corruption and power of Nihilus from spreading. This final showdown should be a testament to the power of good versus evil and the weight of an individual's choices. The film ends with a cliffhanger or a resolution that sets up potential future storylines, such as Revan's journey to heal from his past and the true ending of the battle for the galaxy.

Conclusion

While the plot suggested here might not be perfect, the idea is to have a storyline that continues the legacy and magic of KOTOR 2. This approach would not only satisfy fans of the Old Republic but also provide a satisfying conclusion to a beloved series in the Star Wars universe.
