Parents often cherish the funny moments and mishaps that our little ones encounter. My son, who was 9 at the time, still carries the title of a little prankster in my heart. One fateful Halloween celebration, we were enjoying the festivities with my husband and three younger children. Suddenly, a lady started yelling for 911! There, I saw the same elderly woman who came close to the ground as if she were about to perform CPR on my son, who was lying down and seemingly unaffected. Usually, if my son were awake, he would have stopped the prank at this point. However, he was sound asleep, and not even the sight of an elderly woman awakening his little prankster instincts.

Embarrassed, my son quickly got up and apologized, thanking the woman. I followed suit, thanking her and making sure my son understood the importance of respect. Despite the gravity of the situation, we all managed to share a good laugh, thanks to the woman's impressive lungs and rapid response time.

This experience reinforces how every prankster's heart beats with a desire for a "prank" that’s a bit more elaborate or daring. Even in this situation, my son was probably hoping for a teenage heartthrob to swoop in and save the day!

The Innocent Observation

My little sister, at only 3-4 years old, showcased her unique sense of observation during a ballet class. While I was attending my class, she would eagerly play on her iPad. One day, my mother was helping me take off my ballet shoes when a father walked in to pick up his daughter. He stood several feet in front of my sister, and let's just say he was on the larger side.

My dear little sister, in her innocent and direct manner, looked up from her iPad and blurted out: "Wow, that's a big fat dad!" My mother's jaw dropped as she hurried us out of the building to avoid any further embarrassing observations from a potentially offended gentleman.

While I am not sure if the father heard her remark, I dread the thought of finding out. The incident, however, reminded me of the importance of awareness and respect in public, especially when children are involved.
