The Future of TV Shows: AI-Generated Continuation and Blended Seasons
The Dilemma of AI-Generated TV Show Continuation
At some point, could we feed every episode of a show into some sort of AI platform and have it create a brand new season? Yes, of course. And I must say, you have a very good idea! I hope someone takes it up and does exactly what you say should be done. Congratulations on a brilliant idea!
Consciousness and Creativity in AI-Generated Content
Consciousness, awareness! is the mechanism for brand new seasons! flowing! ONE! with this! universe happening! all ways brand new, never repeating! all! inclusive! ONE! an order! rhythm! harmony! creatively! eternally! love! being! heart! Live, love, grow!
The Limitations of AI
Well, since AI can only create based on what it is trained on (that is, what has come before), the answer to your question is that you could get an episode or season that would be highly derivative and not very original. This is similar to feeding an AI all of the works of Shakespeare and expecting a new Shakespeare play. I’m sure you will get something, but it will almost certainly be very disappointing and ultimately not worth the effort.
Is AI-Generated Content Close to Reality?
I am not an expert on AI, but I am quite knowledgeable about computers and programming by the old fashioned way. From what I have read in the mass media up to this date, my answer would have to be: not anytime soon. If there is someone out there with detailed practical knowledge about AI that is currently working with AI development or usage, please confirm or refute my answer with an explanation. HELP!!! :-
Practical Applications of AI in TV Show Creation
You don’t need to feed every episode of a show. Many of the very popular shows have had their scripts analyzed by fan and critic websites as part of the AI’s training data. If you “set the stage” appropriately, you can get new episodes out now. The only tricky part is most AI's have a 4K word-token output limit. Where a “word-token” is generally the same as a syllable of a word. That means about two pages of text is the most text the AI can output at a time - so one has to little by little pull a new episode out two pages at a time while feeding it all the pages it's generated so far to use as its story map and consistency guide.
Now here’s the amazing part: sure, this works for the creation of new episodes of your favorite shows, but it also works for blended combinations: ask the AI for the “what if” season when the survivors on the TV show “Lost” discover the castaways from “Gilligan’s Island” living in one of the island lagoons, but now the castaways have been stranded for 30 years and they have a generation of kids. The AI would seem quite chipper as it generates new episodes of this two pages at a time.
Or ask for “that episode of the ‘Twilight Zone’ TV show where [here you fill in today’s headlines].” You will be kind of amazed and scared at the script generated two pages at a time. This technique works with far more than fictional story narratives. Because AI’s like ChatGPT4 are trained on the entirety of the Internet and the Internet contains basically everything it is possible to create, scenarios like the philosopher Nietzsche gets hired by Disney to give the next Star Wars big bad guy some really dark powers are possible. So he creates a Sith Lord that realizes the Star Wars Universe is a story product franchise from our Universe and he cooks up a scheme to break out of their story-verse and attack our real world. With the right prompts, you could get something generated that would seriously scare real philosophers, and you might not be able to finish reading it because it makes horror read like a child’s joke.
