The First Meeting: Humans and Aliens

The first conversation between humans and aliens could encompass a wide range of topics, reflecting curiosity, caution, and the desire for understanding. Here’s a possible scenario:

Setting

A neutral space station with both humans and aliens present, possibly in a shared area designed for communication.

Conversation

Alien Representative (Xerafon):I have a sickness of the heart that only gold can cure. My name is Xerafon.

Human Representative (Jacob):My name is Jacob. What disease are you talking about? Isn't that what Cortés told to the Aztecs?

Xerafon:Jacob, humans are social animals. What are you doing here alone?

Jacob:You are tall. Like, really tall. Humans…Look, I don't know who you are. Just leave me alone. I need to sort some things out.

That "person" was getting closer. What Jacob saw can be described as a man in an armor. Xerafon's mask removed itself, and Jacob was able to see his face. It looked like a tiger, a human-like tiger in some sort of futuristic armor.

Xerafon:Cortés meeting the Aztecs was the closest thing humans have ever experienced to an encounter with aliens. You understood the reference, I trust you know what happened next, right?

Jacob:The Spanish destroyed the Aztecs, pursuing their hunger for gold.

Xerafon:An inferior civilization will always end up adopting the costumes of a more superior civilization provided that such an encounter ever occurs. The Europeans were technologically more advanced and so they destroyed what they thought was wrong and useless, the entire Aztecs civilization that to them was nothing but barbaric. The Spanish supplanted the Aztecs, and the few survivors that remained were forced to adopt European costumes.

Jacob:Are you here to supplant us?

Xerafon:The Romans who conquered Greece remained impressed with Greek culture because it was so advanced. Even though they were the invaders, the Romans adopted Greek costumes because they recognized its merits.

Jacob:I understand your point. Are you impressed with humans and, even though you are more powerful than us, you want to adopt our culture?

Xerafon:In a way, yes. We are indeed more powerful than you but it doesn't necessarily make you irrelevant to us. We can learn from one another, but I'm afraid we are far from regarding each other as equals. Rome became Greek, but it took time.

Jacob:I was about to end my life.

Xerafon:Why tonight? Your life is indeed about to end. You just need to wait a couple of decades.

Jacob:I'm in pain. I lost everything. Actually, I'm about to lose everything. Why should I go on? I'm hopeless.

Xerafon:If you were hopeless, then you would be invincible. The Mongols never cornered their enemies. They always left them a way to retreat in case they lost their will to fight. If the enemy knew there was no escape, the enemy would have fought until the very end, bravely and strongly.

Jacob:What?

Xerafon:You hope to escape your problems by killing yourself. It's a trap. The Mongols killed or enslaved all the enemies who retreated. It would have been impossible to do so if they fought until the very end in such condition. The enemy could have been victorious.

Jacob:I don't understand.

Xerafon:Run, Jacob. I am told that your species cannot be afflicted by sadness when running. He shot in the air, and Jacob got scared. Jacob ran for many miles until he could no longer continue. After that, he was too tired for anything. He found a bench and fell asleep right there and then.

What happened that night changed his life. He never spoke to anyone about it after all. Who would believe him? He realized he hasn't actually lost all hope and decided to keep living. After all, death is inevitable, and there is no need to rush things.

Many years after the event, Xerafon came to visit a now old Jacob:

Xerafon:Did you keep running?

Jacob:Everyday of my life. I never stopped since. So, I guess you will now invade us, huh? Humanity will finally unite and put aside all its problems. You will scare us into solving all our difficulties. No time for petty matters when running against time from imminent threats, right?

Xerafon: smiled. Days later, an invasion occurred, and humanity was deeply scared by aliens who clearly stated: we are not coming in peace.

One old man remained calm, though...

This dialogue emphasizes the potential for mutual curiosity and understanding in such a historic meeting and highlights the importance of cultural exchange and adaptability between civilizations.
