The Distinction Between a Guardian Angel and a Guardian of Angels

Angels, being spiritual beings, do not require guardians as humans often do to protect themselves from Satan and his minions. However, humans do need guardian angels to guide and protect them through life's challenges. Among the heavenly host, Michael stands as the leader and the only arch-angel, boasting powers that no other guardian angel can match.

Michael - The Captain of the Lord's Host

Michael, the arch-angel, is the leader of God's heavenly host. His power is unmatched and not even a guardian angel can defeat him unless the human under protection becomes tempted and capitulates to spiritual battles. God respects every individual's choices, but a series of poor choices can lead to a hardened heart, leading to eternal damnation.

The Resurrection and the Return of Jesus

According to the 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, when Jesus returns, it will be by His voice that the graves will open, and the righteous dead will be resurrected with incorruptible bodies. Jesus is fully God, and there is no greater power on Earth or in Heaven. He will lead the angelic hosts when He returns, and it is His voice that will signify the opening of the graves.

The Unique Role of Michael

The verse in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 emphasizes that only Michael, the arch-angel, has the authority to summon the dead. This highlights the uniqueness of Michael's position within the angelic hierarchy. Contrary to popular belief, Michael is the only arch-angel, and it is Jesus’ voice that will call the righteous to life.

Jesus - The Ark-Angel and the Son of God

John 1:1-4 clearly states that Jesus is the Word of God, and He is fully God. This makes Him equivalent to the Father, not less. In Philippians 2:10, the honor given to Jesus is described as "every knee should bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." This indicates that Jesus is not just a high-rank angel but the Lord of the angels.

A Fundamental Misconception

There is a fundamental misconception that Jesus must be a high-rank angel or that He could be just that, given the titles He bears. However, the angelic messenger from the Book of Revelation warned John that humans must not bow down before angels, as they serve alongside humans. This does not mean that humans should bow before Jesus, but that Jesus, as the Word of God, should be honored in all respects.

The True Role of Guardian Angels

Guardian angels are assigned to human protectees to guide and protect them, but the guardians of the angels are none other than the Creator Himself. Jesus, the Guardian of the Angels, is the one who created them and guides them. Michael, being the leader, serves under Jesus, upholding the will of the Father.

In conclusion, while humans have guardian angels, the Guardian of the Angels is the one who is like God, the Father. This being is all-knowing and all-powerful, respected by every angel. Jesus is the full embodiment of this role, not just a high-rank angel, but the Lord of the universe, who leads the angelic hosts and has the power to call the righteous to life.

This understanding aligns with the teachings of the Bible and underscores the unique and important roles of Michael and Jesus in the heavenly hierarchy.
