With Antonio’s death, his wife and two sons, Paolo and Vito, were left to face the wrath of Don Ciccio. Paolo, the elder son, vowed to avenge his father and turned to a life of patience, biding his time to strike back.

Vito’s Escape and Exile

When Paolo’s attempt to avenge his father ended in failure at the funeral procession, he was swiftly eliminated. That left Vito, the youngest son, alone. Desperate to protect his remaining child, Signora Andolini begged Don Ciccio not to hurt Vito, citing his youth and helplessness. Unmoved, Don Ciccio ordered the hitmen to dispatch Vito as well. However, fate intervened, and Vito managed to flee the scene, with help from some family friends who hid him from Mosca and Strollo’s relentless pursuit.

With his life in danger, Vito made the perilous journey to the United States. Arriving in New York City, he was registered as Vito Corleone, a name taken from the town of his origin. It was hoped that distance and a new identity would ensure his survival, but Vito never forgot his roots nor the betrayal of the Ciccio family.

The Return and Vengeance

Years later, Vito grew into a strong and capable man. Fueled by the desire for vengeance and the hope for justice, he returned to Sicily as Vito Corleone. With the help of the local community, he tracked down and eventually confronted Don Ciccio. In a final and brutal showdown, Vito took out his father’s murderer, Don Ciccio, delivering the long-awaited and deserved justice for his family.
