The Complex Relationship Between Clone Troopers and Boba Fett

Boba Fett, being the unaltered clone of Jango Fett, was treated differently from the other clones. His unique background, which included being raised as Jango’s son, set him apart from his fellow clones. This article explores how the other clones viewed Boba, the reasons behind their differing attitudes, and the impact of his rivalry and revenge motives on his relationships within the clone trooper ranks.

Special Status

Unlike the other clones who were genetically modified for obedience and accelerated aging, Boba Fett was considered unique. He was raised as Jango Fett’s son, thus he did not share the same conditioning. This special status made him stand out and he was often treated differently by his fellow clones.

Isolation

Boba Fett often felt isolated, even though he was trained with the other clones. His more personal upbringing with Jango Fett created a unique bond that set him apart. He did not share the camaraderie that the other clones had among themselves, leading to a sense of alienation.

Respect and Rivalry

Some clones respected Boba Fett for his lineage and skills. However, others felt jealousy or rivalry toward him. His status as a bounty hunter and his father’s legacy influenced how the other clones perceived him. This divide between respect and rivalry created a complex relationship.

Revenge Motive

A significant factor in Boba Fett’s relationships with the other clones was his desire for revenge against the Jedi after his father, Jango, was killed by Mace Windu. This desire for vengeance further alienated him from the other clones, who were still aligned with the Republic and its cause.

Examples of Differing Attitudes

In the expanded universe, some of the clone troopers were annoyed by Boba Fett’s ‘superior status’ as Jango’s son and his occasional arrogance and inconsiderate attitude. For instance, Ordo, one of Kal Skirata’s Nulls and the de-facto leader of the group, thought of Boba as a “little jerk.” He even went as far as sticking his head down a refresher after Boba boasted that his father, Jango, could beat Skirata Ordo’s father-figure whenever he wanted.

On the other hand, while the other clones generally treated him like a brother, they likely would not have liked him as much if he did not possess these qualities. Boba’s arrogance and inconsiderate attitude towards them contributed to their negative feelings towards him. His unique upbringing and the fact that he was genetically modified like them but due to different circumstances likely added to their frustrations.
