Reflections on TV Shows: A Personal Journey Through Arrowverse

When it comes to discussing my favorite TV shows, it’s hard to pick just one. However, if I have to, The Legends of Tomorrow takes the crown, and The Flash comes in as a close second. But, let's dive deeper into what makes each of these shows unique and why I hold them in such high regard.

Why The Legends of Tomorrow?

The Legends of Tomorrow is a show that stands out for its balance of comedy, action, and emotional depth. Unlike other shows in the D.C. Universe, The Legends of Tomorrow doesn't take itself too seriously. This light-hearted approach makes it highly entertaining and relatable. Moreover, the show effectively integrates LGBTQ content, ensuring it's inclusive and representative.

The storytelling on The Legends of Tomorrow is a masterclass in execution. It perfectly balances emotional scenes with both action and humor. While shows like Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl also have their share of emotional moments, The Legends of Tomorrow knows how to keep the emotional burden off the main characters. This ensures that the drama and action stay engaging without overpowering the narrative.

My Personal Favorites: Arrow and The Flash

When it comes to the Arrowverse, two shows reign supreme for me: Arrow and The Flash. While The Flash remains my top pick, Arrow Season 7 is also giving me a run for my money. Both shows offer compelling plots and well-developed villains.

The Flash has a strong plot, a formidable villain, and it introduces new characters while also explaining unsolved plot points. Most notably, Thawne is always lurking, using his cunning to destabilize Barry and his loved ones. While Arrow Season 7 brought back Roy Harper, a fan favorite, the show still holds a special place in my heart. Nevertheless, The Flash edges slightly ahead due to its memorable characters and dynamics.

Reviewing Arrow and The Flash

Arrow, to me, is a show that stands out for its careful storytelling and well-rounded characters. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros: The prison storyline, particularly the fight scenes in Season 2, were some of the best. Stanley's evolution into a fanatical fanboy and his eventual death deeply affected the storyline. Emiko is a commendable character with noble goals that resonate with viewers. Renee has evolved from a one-dimensional character to a more nuanced one. Cons: Diaz's storyline is inconsistent and lacks depth. Black Siren scenes are relatively underdeveloped, and there's a noticeable absence of torture or background story. William displays his usual annoying behavior.

The Flash holds a unique place in my heart for similar reasons:

Pros: Nora Allen is a standout character, with her dynamic relationship with her father being a highlight. Eobard Thawne is subtly building his plot for future action. Ralph is gaining more prominence, adding depth to the team. Cons: Cicada's storyline, while interesting, feels underutilized and his defeat and subsequent escape are incongruent. Grace, while a strong character, might be the real Cicada, projecting thoughts into Orin's mind, which adds complexity to the plot. The new suit, though not a significant downgrade, misses the charm of its predecessor, especially the removal of the neck strap. Cisco's arc seems to be moving away from his heroic narrative, which is disappointing.

In conclusion, every show in the Arrowverse has its unique charm and flaws. However, The Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and The Flash stand out for their ability to blend genres and deliver compelling storytelling. For me, they represent the best of what television has to offer.
