Reflections on Rain: Changing Joys and Unforgettable Memories

Embrace the rain, let it wash away your worries, but remember, some of life's most precious moments are those shared under its gentle stream.

From Struggle to Gratitude: A Journey Through 2021

Two years back, in 2021, I found myself in the midst of a challenging year. I was a senior in 12th standard, navigating through online classes and re-exam boards. The dual process of managing academics and personal health was incredibly draining. I was diagnosed with a Vitamin D deficiency, which made me physically and mentally unwell. The pain was intense, to the point where I often found myself bedridden, screaming in agony.

My body deteriorated to such an extent that even now, whenever I recall those days, I am overcome with emotion. My eyes weakened to the point where I now require glasses, and even when I remove them, I find myself welling up with tears. This year was a battle that no one could have wished for, and the pain I endured will forever be etched in my memory.

The Importance of Rain in Childhood

Despite the difficulties, there was one thing that brought a semblance of joy to my life. Rain. Growing up, especially during my time at a hostel in Orissa, rain was something that we eagerly anticipated. It was a respite from the mundane routine and an opportunity for leisurely explorations.

Our classes would often be canceled if the sky was overcast, and we would eagerly make our way back to the hostel, intentionally delaying our steps to prolong our time walking under the rain. We would jump into puddles and proudly compare whose shoes were the dirtiest. These moments, now cherished by me, symbolize the simple joys of childhood that are often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of adulthood.

Adulthood and Rain: A Different Perspective

As I grew older, the definition of joy shifted. For me, rain became synonymous with discomfort. It added an extra layer of inconvenience to my daily commutes. In the office or studying in college, having rain meant having to wait longer before I could head home. However, there is a beauty to rain that remains; it brings a sense of tranquility and peace, especially when I find myself alone.

On days where the rain outside is particularly soothing, I find solace in listening to ASMR videos on YouTube, allowing the sounds to transport me back to simpler times. Rain, in all its forms, reminds me of the precious moments that once filled my days with laughter and playfulness. It serves as a poignant reminder of how life's joys evolve and how we must embrace the changing seasons of our existence.

In conclusion, the rain has played a significant role in my life. It signifies the joys of childhood and the inevitable changes that accompany growth. While 2021 was an excruciating year marked by personal struggles, the rain serves as a gentle reminder of the simple pleasures that life offers, even during the most challenging times.
