Recollections and Reflections: My Odyssey Through Life and Business

Remember that iconic scene in 'Miami Vice' where a character drives off at night in a Ferrari Daytona with the soundtrack blasting 'I Can Feel It'? It's one of those moments that stay with you, the thrill of the open road and high-energy music encapsulating a sense of freedom and adventure.

?imentary Reflections: A The Royle Family Homage

The antics of The Royle Family often reminded me of my own and extended family. Nanna Royle's meticulous conversation style about her friends mirrored my auntie's. The long-suffering look on Barbara's face after Jim's foolish remarks echoes the face my mother would pull when Dad showed us another piece of train track from Beattie's. Jim's control over the TV remote, just like my late brother, eventually passed down to me, and Denise's nurturing role after having Baby David is reminiscent of an elder niece figure, though David was nothing like her partner. Sometimes I feel like I'm Cheryl, and other times, Anthony.

Navigating Uncertain Times: A Personal Apocalyptic Experience

Betwixt the pandemic, the Trump presidency, and frequent demonstrations, living in multiple cities, I felt like I was inhabiting a bad apocalypse movie. Yet, through it all, there have been moments of sheer brilliance and innovation.

A Pivotal Moment in Physics Class

There was a moment in my Physics Class during Year 12 that stands out. We were watching MacGyver, the show that starred Lucas Till on CBS. My brilliant friend, Jay, who excelled in mathematics and physics, took charge when our teacher tasked us with designing, building, and writing up an AC generator. Jay split the class into teams, designing, manufacturing, and conducting the write-up process. Over 2.5 days, Jay and the class, alongside our 3D-printing resources, managed to build a functional mini AC generator using the classroom equipment. This experience taught me the value of teamwork and innovation under pressure.

Leaping into the Diva: Starting My Business

One pivotal moment occurred when my boss, who had recently taken a new job, conceded that her small graphics studio would close in a few weeks. This left me staring at 20 minutes of straight highway during my drive, contemplating how to fill four days a week of client work as a single parent. By the end of that drive, however, a solution dawned on me. Equipped with what I had learned, it was finally time to take the leap and start my own business. Solving a large problem on my own reignited my entrepreneurial spirit and set me on my new journey.

These experiences—be it the thrill of living vicariously through 'Miami Vice,' the warm and sometimes cautionary tales from The Royle Family, the scientific ingenuity of MacGyver, or the personal drive to start my own business—have shaped the tapestry of my life. They remind me of the importance of embracing change, learning from the past, and looking forward with a sense of innovation and resilience.
