Personal Hopes and Dreams for 2019: Recovery and Resilience
Personal Hopes and Dreams for 2019: Recovery and Resilience
The year 2018 has been filled with challenges for many of us, and for one individual, it was particularly difficult. This person shares their journey of recovery, personal goals, and the pursuit of peace amidst uncertainties in the world around them.
My 2019 Hopes
For the upcoming year, my primary goals are multiple: to lose weight and get in shape, break 90 at golf, complete three CDs I am working on as a recording musician, and perhaps spend some time at the beach. However, the most significant hope is for peace. I strive to find inner calm during turbulent times, both personally and globally.
Personal Challenges and Resilience
2018 was undoubtedly a year from hell. I experienced a lithium overdose, resulting in severe kidney issues that required multiple medical visits and treatments. The physical and emotional toll was immense. Then, in July, I started losing weight rapidly and experienced a series of health issues like insomnia, anxiety, depression, anger, and anemia.
The uncertainty and stress of these health challenges were compounded by a series of tests and procedures. I underwent a colonoscopy, endoscopes, CAT scans, MRIs, a chest X-ray, and a mammogram, and even an HIV test, all in an attempt to pinpoint the cause of my symptoms. Added to this, I had to endure a prolonged regimen of physical therapy and medical injections.
Discovery and Relief
It was not until last week, when the night sweats began, that I sought further medical attention and discovered the root cause: my thyroid was malfunctioning due to lithium poisoning. I was relieved to learn that I do not have cancer, and that, with the right treatment, I have a pathway to recovery.
Looking Forward to 2019
For 2019, my primary hope is to recover and regain my health. Beyond medical recovery, I am eager to finally complete those CDs, go to the beach, and continue pursuing my musical passions. The personal goals I set at the beginning of the year are just as important as ever—fitness, golf, and artistic endeavors—but now, they represent a beacon of hope and a promise to myself.
Despite the uncertainties and challenges of the world right now, like initiatives to address clean water, the near-cure of cancer, and changes in production to stabilize regions, my personal goals and aspirations offer a sense of control and direction in my life. I am looking forward to the year ahead, where I can focus on my health, my work, and the peace that I seek.
