My Selection of Must-Watch Movies and Shows: A Personal Movie and TV Tease
My Selection of Must-Watch Movies and Shows: A Personal Movie and TV Tease
As someone who enjoys a mix of genres, from action-packed blockbusters to beloved musicals, I have a wide range of entertainment tastes when it comes to film and television. This list reflects a few of the movies and shows that have brought me endless enjoyment, along with my favorite genres and a few comfort picks.
Favorite Movies
First, let's talk about my favorite movies. I must confess, I have a particular penchant for brainless action movies and blockbusters. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) serves as a prime example. From The Avengers to Iron Man, these films have always been on the top of my list. Here are a few more that I simply adore:
The A-Team Top Gun The Italian Job Interstellar OceansOf course, no list of my favorites would be complete without mentioning animated classics from Disney. My heart definitely melts for Disney's animated films, with a special place for vintage classics from the 60s and 70s. These include Sword in the Stone, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Robin Hood. In recent years, movies like Aladdin 2019 and The Lion King 2019 have brought me joy as well.
Favorite Shows
Now, moving on to television. Among my go-to shows are New Girl, Glee, and Parks and Recreation, all of which provide a delightful and lighthearted escape. These shows are perfect for when I just want a little fun and humor. Another favorite is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a show that warms my heart and makes me smile. Additionally, during the quarantine period, I discovered 30 Rock, which has grown on me as I near the end of its second season. Kingsman: The Secret Service is another one of my favorite series, though I have only seen a few episodes so far.
Comfort Shows
In terms of comfort shows—shows that are reliably enjoyable and stress-free—New Girl, Glee, and Parks and Recreation are absolutely up there. When I want a more substantive, yet still enjoyable experience, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Broad City, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine come to mind. These shows offer both humor and depth, making them perfect choices when I'm in the mood for something both comforting and entertaining.
Favorite Genres
When it comes to genres, I have a particular fondness for certain types of films. Murder mystery films, particularly the works of John Carney, keep me engaged and entertained. Movies like Begin Again, Sing Street, and glistening musicals like Les Misérables and Newsies are my absolute favorite. Musical films have a special place in my heart, with real tear-jerkers like Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera sitting on my list of must-watches.
Space and Horror Movies
Space-themed movies like Interstellar and The Martian are not quite my cup of tea. I find them a bit too stressful and don't easily connect with the emotions they try to evoke. However, horror and thrillers are off the table for me altogether, as they leave me feeling uneasy and out of sorts.
Despite these preferences, I am quite open to just about any genre. So if you're ever looking to recommend something new, feel free to suggest anything and I'll likely be open to it! The key for me is simply finding a good story and potentially good characters to root for.
