My Journey Through the First Fortnite Battle Royale Experience

Fortnite has become a cultural phenomenon ever since it was released, and as someone who joined the ranks of the many gamers in the late November period, there was an overwhelming excitement mixed with curiosity. My very first Fortnite Battle Royale session was on a PS4 at a friend's house, and it has been an interesting and evolving journey ever since.

First Game on PS4

My initial foray into Fortnite was quite a memorable event, scene as though it was an old film reel of a thrilling adventure. After the game downloaded, and we waited excitedly, my friend went first. He dropped at 'Tomato Town,' an area familiar to many seasoned gamers. Unfortunately for him, he died without any kills, leaving me to my turn. I had the privilege of dropping at Salty Springs Cliff house, a decision that immediately set the stage for my first moments in the game.

I remember looting very differently then, moving much slower which is quite comical to reflect on now. My first mistake was inadvertently breaking the floor beneath me every time I tried to grab a chest. Finding an RPG was a highlight, but I soon faced another issue. My anxiety led me to sit in a raised wooden hut next to the Gray House North of Salty Springs for an extended period, bracing myself for danger. I spent what felt like an eternity camping there, getting zone after zone until only two other players remained.

Using my newly acquired knowledge of launch pads, I remembered a tutorial I had watched on YouTube and immediately built a floor and placed a launch pad. The ensuing event unfolded quickly. I launched myself onto a metal structure that one of my opponents had built. They turned to face me just as I landed behind them. The adrenaline rush was intense as I shot my RPG and defeated one player, but alas, that left me another kill away from victory. Unfortunately, I was not as lucky in this scenario, and the bush camper left with the Victory Royale. Since that first game, I have played over 2,500 matches, continuously refining my skills. The journey has been both entertaining and frustrating, but in many ways, it has been a lot of fun over the past nine months.

First Experience on Computer

When I first heard about Fortnite, it was through a tale of friendships and social media pictures, all showcasing the game's colorful and competitive atmosphere. Piqued by the buzz and realizing that it was free, I installed the game on my computer and dove into the first battle royale experience on mid-Season 3.

My first attempt was a bit of a mess. Jumping into the Battle Bus and landing in Lucky Landing was confusing, and I had to figure out what the space bar was for. Proceeding was like wandering through a digital unknown, with a lack of understanding of basic mechanics such as sprinting. Bumbling my way around, I managed to pick up a glowing green AR but didn't even know how to sprint until it was too late. What followed was a lesson in basics that left me stuck in the green storm wave, before the system forced my character to die.

That initial experience, rather poorly executed, now looks like the start of a huge journey. My progression has been gradual but steady, and every step in that process has been fascinating. The game's journey for me has been full of laughter, failures, and occasional victories, making it a memorable period in my gaming life.
