My Favourite X-Man and Why

As an avid fan of the X-Men, my favorite character fluctuates from time to time. However, currently, my beloved X-Man is Piotr Rasputin, A.K.A. Colossus. While I have a special soft spot for Erik Lensherr, the complexity of Wolverine's character has also captured my attention. But when it comes to simplicity and relatability, Colossus takes the crown for me.

A Deep Connection with Piotr Rasputin - Colossus

Colossus, despite not having been a member of the team for a significant period, holds a special place in my heart. He is not only an integral part of the founding members but also embodies a unique charm that resonates with me. His powers, which allow him to transform his body into steel, are straightforward and direct, offering a refreshing perspective on the vast repertoire of mutant abilities.

What truly draws me to Colossus is his demeanor and outlook. As an artist and soft-spoken person, I find a kindred spirit in his character. He is a peaceful man who deeply values family and harmony within his community. His struggles and experiences, particularly his moments of frustration and strength when faced with threats to his loved ones, mirror some of the challenges I have encountered in my own life. His love for his family and friends, and the protective instincts he demonstrates, are qualities that I admire and can connect with on a personal level.

nightCrawler - The Swashbuckling Rogue of the X-Men

Another character that holds a special place in my heart is Kurt Wagner, known as Nightcrawler. His presence brings a unique flair to the team, both in terms of appearance and abilities. Nightcrawler's penchant for swashbuckling and his Robin Hood-esque demeanor make him an exhilarating character to follow. His deep Christian faith, while different from my own, resonates with the sense of hope and optimism he exudes. His optimism, which is a central theme of his character, reminds me to look towards the brighter side of life.

X-Man: A Team Naming Tradition

Regarding the terminology, it is indeed common to refer to individual X-Men as X-Men, regardless of gender. This tradition can be compared to how college sports teams are referred, such as the Delta State Lady Statesmen. Ultimately, it makes more sense to think of the Xavier School as a full-fledged institution complete with athletic teams, art exhibits, and drama productions a place where students can explore and showcase their talents in various fields.

Intriguingly, the use of "X-Woman" to refer to female X-Men has become more prevalent, further highlighting the importance of gender diversity within the team. The decision to use this term reflects a broader acknowledgment of the diverse lineup of X-Men and the need to be inclusive of all characters, regardless of their gender.

Relatable Traits and Favourites

As I reflect on my favorite X-Men characters, I find warmth in the complexity and relatability of Piotr Rasputin. His artistic inclinations, peaceful nature, and protective instincts all mirror aspects of my own personality. Nightcrawler, with his distinctive appearance, abilities, and optimistic outlook, adds an incredible element of intrigue and excitement to the X-Men stories. Both are integral to the tapestry of the X-Men universe, each bringing their unique quirks and strengths to the team.
