Kong: Skull Island: Debunking the Myths and Celebrating the Movie
Kong: Skull Island: Debunking the Myths and Celebrating the Movie
I enjoyed it too. In my opinion, it's the best movie in the MonsterVerse so far. Even the human story was interesting. Despite the movie bombing and receiving terrible reviews, I still found it enjoyable.
Did Anyone Like This Movie?
First, let's put things into perspective. The movie did not bomb in any sense of the word, and it received a lot of praise. Like most movies, it will receive mediocre reviews, but it's not as bad as people are saying it is. In fact, it was the most successful movie within the MonsterVerse up to that point, even more popular than Godzilla in 2014 in terms of profits. It will surpass all other movies in the future, especially when considering the profitability of Godzilla vs. Kong.
My All-Time Favorite within the MonsterVerse
I thoroughly enjoyed Kong: Skull Island, making it my all-time favorite within the MonsterVerse. I liked the way they handled Kong and the unique creatures that inhabit Skull Island. The movie did quite well, performing better than all other MonsterVerse movies combined, except for Godzilla vs. Kong, which is currently the most profitable MonsterVerse movie.
The Problem: Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts
The director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, had a significant impact on my perception of the film. His inexperience and lack of understanding of Kong's capabilities and respect for the character were major issues. This lack of knowledge behind the scenes of such an iconic character like King Kong didn't work well. I wonder why Warner Bros. entrusted him with such a large project.
Personal Enjoyment Despite Critics
I was in the right mood. I just wanted to zone out and watch a "bad" movie, so I rented what some might call a "turkey." I enjoyed it immensely and was pretty impressed by the editing, which was better than many A-list movies. Screw reviews—I've never liked film critics, as their jobs often revolve around panning a film. One of the worst reviews was for Conan the Barbarian when it first came out, which got horrible reviews.
In conclusion, while Kong: Skull Island faced harsh criticism, it still stood out as a strong entry in the MonsterVerse. Despite the director's shortcomings, the film delivered visually stunning creature designs and an engaging human storyline.
