Human Inhabited Planets in the Star Wars Universe: A Comprehensive Overview

In the vast and intricate Star Wars universe, humans play a significant role as a prominent sentient species. The exact number of human-inhabited planets has been a topic of much discussion and speculation. While some sources suggest that there are one million known human-inhabited planets, this figure remains elusive due to the ever-evolving canon and the ongoing creation of new stories within the Star Wars universe.

The Human Diaspora

Humans do not occupy a single planet in the Star Wars galaxy. Instead, they have spread across numerous worlds, forming a vast diaspora. This diaspora can be traced back to the days of the Legends continuity and extends into the current New Canon. According to Legends, humans originated on the planet Coruscant but were dispersed across the galaxy due to their enslavement by the Rakatan Empire.

The Core Worlds

Over time, Coruscanti humans expanded and settled many of the Core Worlds, such as Alderaan, Corellia, Chandrilan, and Alsakan. These worlds, which are part of the galactic heart, served as hubs of human civilization and commerce. Additionally, a human empire existed in the Tion Cluster, located in the Galactic Northeast, and it fought with the Hutt Cartels for dominance in the region.

Human-Dominated Worlds

The human race extends far beyond these Core Worlds, with significant populations establishing themselves on colonies and further-out worlds. One such example is Naboo, where human populations became the dominant species on that distant planet. In some cases, these interactions were peaceful, allowing humans to coexist harmoniously with other races. However, in many instances, the relationship between humans and other species was marked by racial disparity, animosity, and even strife.

Unreliable Estimates

Creating a complete and cohesive list of all human-inhabited planets would be impossible to generate. Each new creative piece in the Star Wars franchise introduces new planets or details about existing ones, ensuring that the list remains dynamic and expanding. Instead, what can be said with certainty is that humans are widespread throughout the galaxy, with the greatest concentrations found in the Core and Colony worlds. This distribution has led to the development of diverse human cultures and societies, each with its own unique characteristics and histories.

Ancient human empires and colonies have left their mark on the galaxy, creating a rich tapestry of interactions and conflicts. As the Star Wars universe continues to evolve, new planets and stories will undoubtedly emerge, keeping the question of the human diaspora alive and intriguing.
