Game of Thrones: A Review of the Finale and Potential Alternatives

In my opinion, the best and most tragic ending for Game of Thrones would involve Jon and Daenerys sacrificing themselves against the Night's King, or perhaps Cersei choosing to leave a surviving child to rule the Seven Kingdoms. In this scenario, the dragons would likely be either dead or flown away, while characters like Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, and Sam would survive to raise the child, ensuring a new chapter in Westeros.

Key Characters and Their Fates

Tyrion: He would inherit the Westerlands, though the region would be severely affected by years of war. In time, he might even remarry Sansa for political reasons.

Sansa: She would likely marry Tyrion to solidify political alliances, while Arya would have a series of children with Gendry, continuing to guard the North for Sansa's heir.

Jayar and Davos: Yara would regain control of the Iron Islands, and Davos might be granted legitimacy in his efforts to unite the exiled lords of Dorne.

The Vale: Under the weak rule of Robin Arryn, the region would face challenges but maintain a semblance of stability with the help of his lords.

Johannas: Edmure and Brynden Tully would be resurrected to rule the Riverlands, with Brynden potentially marrying for political reasons.

Stormlands and Tarth: Brienne and Jaime would settle on Tarth, working to bring order to the Stormlands.

Less Desirable Finale Scenarios

I would hate to see an ending that glorifies the endless slaughter of the Night King's army. Instead, I would prefer a scenario where a cure or method is found that turns the undead back into human form. For example, a specific type of dragon glass could be used to neutralize the Night King and his army, or a powerful magical artifact could be destroyed with wildfire, nullifying the threat.

Art as a Transformative Tool

Art, much like the stories in Game of Thrones, has the power to plant seeds of reflection in society. Consider Tyrion's parable about a cousin who kills countless beetles but never stops. If we see such a story portrayed in a TV series like Game of Thrones, it could lead viewers to question the futility of endless violence.

The key lies in finding a balance between tragedy and hope. An ending that shows the valor and sacrifice of characters while also offering a glimmer of what could have been a more peaceful resolution might have left viewers with a sense of both sadness and inspiration.
