Another significant aspect of the Netflix user experience is the quality of the DVDs and Blu-rays received. There have been several reported instances of damaged disks being shipped to users. For example, a DVD that was cracked and starting to de-laminate was received, rendering it unusable until the next day when a replacement was provided. This issue is not a one-off incident, as a customer service representative confirmed receiving complaints about abused disks that had not been adequately checked for quality.

The frustration arises from the fact that these issues significantly disrupt the viewing experience. Stopping a movie mid-play due to playback errors and having to spend additional time fast-forwarding past the damage is far from an immersive experience. It's not just a minor inconvenience—it's a deal-breaker for many users.

To address this, Netflix could potentially invest in an automated quality control process. A solution like image processing systems, perhaps combined with a quick spin test, could help to identify damaged items before they are shipped. This would not only save the company money on support costs but also significantly improve customer satisfaction.

For a ten-year Netflix customer, the quality of shipped items is a crucial factor in maintaining a positive user experience. When DVD-quality issues consistently arise and are not adequately resolved, it can lead to frustration and ultimately, a loss of customer trust.
