Do You Really Need Hulu with Amazon and Netflix?

In this day and age, streaming services like Amazon Video and Netflix dominate the entertainment landscape. But with the availability of millions of shows and movies, do you really need another streaming platform like Hulu? That's a valid question, especially since we're already paying for premium content through Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Hulu: The Need or the Nice-to-Have?

Does Hulu have any added value if you already have access to Amazon Video and Netflix? Yes, and no. Let's break down the needs and benefits of Hulu, along with the strengths and weaknesses of each streaming service.

Amazon Video and Netflix: A Comprehensive Overview

Both Amazon Video and Netflix are industry leaders in streaming content. They offer a vast catalogue of both original and licensed content. While these services are fantastic, they have their drawbacks.

Netflix: Netflix is famous for its original content, including series like 'Stranger Things' and 'The Witcher.' They also have a diverse selection of foreign films and documentaries. However, some users find the quality of non-original content to be subpar. We've watched most of what we're interested in, and we keep Netflix for their originals.

Amazon Prime: Amazon Prime offers a different set of shows and movies that Netflix doesn't. Their original content is also strong, with titles like 'The Grand Tour' and 'Fleabag.' Another advantage is the option to rent or buy movies, which can be beneficial if you want to own a film or watch it on other devices. Additionally, you can add channels like HBO, Starz, and National Geographic for a small fee, making Amazon Prime a versatile streaming service.

The Case for Hulu

Hulu, on the other hand, offers content that is often published shortly after its TV premiere. This means you can watch the latest episodes of your favorite shows, even if you're unable to catch them live. For instance, if 'The Masked Singer' airs on a Wednesday night at 8 PM Eastern Time, it is likely available on Hulu the following day. This is a significant advantage if you want to watch the latest episodes without waiting for a long time.

Another benefit of Hulu is its user-friendly interface and overall operation. The layout is designed for ease of use, which can be a relief after navigating the more complex interfaces of Amazon Video and Netflix.

ShARING AND LEVERAGE

Many of us can share accounts to get the most out of each streaming service. For example, I have Amazon Prime and Netflix, while my brother uses YouTube, and my sister has Hulu. We pool our resources to ensure that we can enjoy a wide range of content.

Despite the advantages of Hulu, some users find it lacks the depth and variety of original content found on Netflix and Amazon. However, it excels in providing the newest episodes of network shows, which can make it a valuable addition to your streaming library.

Personal Experience with Hulu

My personal experience with Hulu has been mixed. I subscribed to it on two different occasions and was disappointed with both. The service did not meet my expectations, and I decided to cancel it after just a few minutes each time. Therefore, I cannot strongly recommend Hulu to others.

Conclusion

While Hulu isn't necessary if you already have access to Amazon Video and Netflix, it can offer additional value. If you're someone who loves to watch the most recent episodes of network shows or you want a user-friendly interface, Hulu might be worth considering. Ultimately, the decision depends on your specific needs and preferences.
