Have You Ever Met Web Series Actors?

Last Sunday, as I was walking through the Infinity Mall in Oshiwara, Mumbai, for a shopping trip, I unexpectedly encountered two actors. As the mall is approximately 400–500 meters from my home, I was naturally curious after seeing actors whose familiar faces I recognized from TV serials or movies but couldn’t quite place. The small talk led to a friendly exchange, and I took a selfie too.

Shortly after, on my way back to my building, I met another actor whose face was vaguely familiar, although I couldn’t recall his name.

Working with Web Series Talent

Working with someone can lead to enduring relationships, as was the case with Sachin, an emerging actor known for his roles in web series and short films. Bethan reflects on her previous collaboration with him: "He started with a small role in FLAMES and is now consistent in several web series and short films. He is a phenomenal performer. I’ve directed him numerous times, though sometimes the video didn’t come out due to various reasons. I've also written for him, and hopefully, that will happen soon."

Friendship and Aspirations

Another notable encounter was with Sampriti, a friend from college. Bethan shares, "Sampriti and I were batchmates at IEM Kolkata, where we studied Information Technology. After a year, I changed my stream to Computer Science, but we always stayed in touch until our graduation. Although Sampriti was a good student, we were all expecting her to follow the crowd and join an IT company, but she had other dreams. After college, she pursued her passion for acting, participating in beauty contests and modelling. She bagged the role of Phirkee in a popular Bengal serial."

Sampriti's journey from a runner-up in a beauty pageant to a popular actress in a Bengali serial is a testament to her perseverance. Despite the challenges with the serial being pulled off due to various controversies, she continues to be a prominent figure on Instagram and has hosted an award show.

Recalling their last meet, Bethan notes, "The last time I saw her was in October 2018 in Trivandrum. Unfortunately, I still haven’t managed to get an autograph from her. I’ll make sure to get one next time I meet her, perhaps at a college reunion!"
