BJP's Denial of Expertise: A Economic Scandal and Political Feud

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has repeatedly criticized P. Chidambaram, a former Finance Minister, for his alleged involvement in a scam case. However, the party's criticism is often based on a series of unverified claims and appears to be a worthless attempt to shift the focus away from their own economic crisis. This article aims to dissect the accusations made by BJP and examine the reality behind them.

The Scam Case and BJP's Accusations

The scam case involving P. Chidambaram is still under investigation. BJP asserts that Chidambaram should not lectur[e] on the economy due to his jail term for financial irregularities. However, the logical inconsistencies in BJP's claims are glaring.

While it is true that Chidambaram served time for financial irregularities, he is not the only Indian politician to have faced legal trouble and yet continue to hold political office. Other politicians have enjoyed their jail life and still hold positions as Chief Ministers, despite numerous accusations and ongoing investigations. This raises serious questions about the party's hypocrisy and standards.

Historical Context and Political Rhetoric

The BJP's defense in this matter is anchored in historical and political rhetoric rather than facts. Under the Congress regime, a Finance Minister declared that poor people who avail loans do not need to repay, despite rich people joining the same bandwagon. This issue led to an increase in Non-Performing Assets (NPA), indicating poor financial governance. Chidambaram, in his tenure, contributed to this issue, hence the criticism from the BJP.

However, the same party echoing similar positions during its rule saw a continuous and regular increase in NPAs. This double standard highlights the incoherence in BJP's arguments. They often criticize politicians like Chidambaram while failing to address their own record in governance and economics, which leaves their criticism baseless and hypocritical.

Investigation and Legal Procedures

The scam case involving Chidambaram was initiated during his tenure as the Minister, but the FIR was only filed in 2017, long after he had left his post. The NGO, Indrani, who raised the original case, is still in jail, yet she is not mentioned in the FIR. This raises questions about the reliability of the evidence and the pulroids that are used to silence critics.

Despite over 11 years with the Modi government supporting the investigation, the so-called "smart sleuths" can't find evidence to charge Chidambaram. The only explanation for this is political interference. In fact, the IAS officers who were involved in approving the FDI and counter-signing the documents have now been included in the FIR, indicating a further delay in justice.

The BJP's Lack of Economic Competence

BJP's criticism of Chidambaram and others is misplaced. The party's lack of economic competence and its focus on expelling critics rather than addressing the real issues is evident. Initiation of the scam case during Chidambaram's tenure and the FIR being filed only after he left office expose the party's political maneuvering.

The economic failures under the BJP include the demonetization policy, GST, and the banking system's weaknesses. These issues have caused significant damage to the nation's economy. Instead of examining the failures, the party prefers to indulge in personal attacks to shift responsibility.

The party's failure to provide a solid response to the economic challenges has led to widespread criticism. The criticism about BJP's acceptance of bonds and its lack of transparency in their dealings further highlights their perceived corruption and incompetence.

In conclusion, BJP's approach to criticism and its defense of Chidambaram is nothing more than a futile attempt to defend itself from scrutiny. The party must address its own failures in governance and economics rather than resorting to denigration and besmirching of its critics. The true experts in the field must be given the platform to voice their opinions.
