Appearance in Heaven: Can We Change Our Looks?
Can We Change Our Looks in Heaven?
Since we are able to 'look' however we want now, it leads us to ponder if this will still be the case in the afterlife. Will we be able to see in heaven, or will we have eyes? Could it be that disembodied souls can see without bodies, and why do we need bodies down here on earth?
Changing Appearance in Heaven
Can we look like however we want in heaven? This is a complex question that requires us to consider the teachings of the Holy Spirit. Vanity, often seen as a trait not aligned with the Holy Spirit, suggests that simply changing appearance for self-gratification is not a primary consideration. However, transformation that is necessary or fulfills a divine purpose, might be possible through the Holy Spirit’s will.
For instance, since Jesus ascended to heaven 2000 years ago on earth, He might seem to have only experienced 7 hours in the afterlife. Just the act of brushing or combing your hair in heaven could have caused 30 years to pass on earth. This raises an interesting question: does heaven hold a timeframe that is different from earth?
Perfection in Heavenly Bodies
The most common claim is that we will be given 'perfect' bodies resembling our best state, typically considering our early 30s. This claim is made without any evidence of trauma or lifestyle impacts from our 30s. Moreover, Jesus is believed to retain His scars or at least some of them.
Will Our Appearances Be Changed?
The question remains: will our appearances be changed in heaven? If all things are possible with God, why wouldn't He make us look beautiful, with prettier eyes and a more attractive face? My guess, based on my decade of studying the Bible, is that our bodies will be healed and perfect without flaws. Even if we have physical bodies, our appearance would reflect our current state at the time of our resurrection. The reason? God, our eternal loving Father, would not change His children's appearance to the extent that they are no longer recognizable. This aligns with the perspective of a loving parent who loves their children as they are now and does not wish to alter their appearance to show affection.
So, while we cannot yet place our current mindset in heaven, it is important to maintain the hope that God would preserve our true selves, just as a good father loves their children as they are. After all, God is just a Dad, and He loves us exactly as we are.
